Take One

Ok.
This is a bit odd.
But I live in a country where I look very different from  most of the population.
It is nearly impossible for me to go to go out in some areas of Indonesia without being stopped and asked for my picture usually with a big group of people.
Sometimes I am asked by clusters of giggling shy teenagers for an interview so they can practice their English.
I have gotten to the point where I can see it coming. The big eyes glancing at me. The whispering. And then...."Excuse me Miss"

I decided that I will have a copy of each picture too. My goal is to post these with a brief bit of info about the where they were taken and what was on that day.

I am going to post the link on Facebook once and link this to Adventures in Wonderland if you want to follow along. You can also get updates sent to you by subscribing.

This first one is from the National Museum of Indonesia. http://www.museumnasional.or.id/

I was touring with my Indonesian Heritage Society (IHS http://www.heritagejkt.org ) Textiles Study Group. It's a lovely museum and by local standards very well curated. The IHS does offer tours in many languages though so if you are visiting the museum I highly recommend having one of these trained volunteers give you the tour.

Oh, By the way, I'm not sure if I mentioned this before but...I'm tall here.
